Sleepless Sisters

"Sleepless Sisters" 20x20 inch, paper on cradled birch panel
I loved the story of The Princess and the Pea by Hans Christian Andersen as a child, but felt vaguely disturbed that only one of the girls out of all the queen met was deemed worthy of greatness in her eyes. This piece portrays three different girls, ALL sleepless due to the pea lodged in the mattresses. If I could have fit more on the board, I would have. There just Isn't a finite number of women of great worth.
