Sleepless Sisters

Image
"Sleepless Sisters" 20x20 inch, paper on cradled birch panel I loved the story of The Princess and the Pea by Hans Christian Andersen as a child, but felt vaguely disturbed that only one of the girls out of all the queen met was deemed worthy of greatness in her eyes. This piece portrays three different girls, ALL sleepless due to the pea lodged in the mattresses. If I could have fit more on the board, I would have. There just Isn't a finite number of women of great worth.

"Stowaway" revamped

Image
I've been loving the work of some great Art Nouveau pattern makers, William Morris, Eugene Grasset, Anton Seder and of course, Alphonse Mucha. I haven't been comfortable with the empty space in my little "Stowaway" painting so here it is revamped with a little Art Nouveau style (and a lot of recycled paper) added. Now it's as busy as all the rest of my work,  haha!  8x8 inch, Recycled Paper and acrylic on cradled birch board
